The Blacklist - Sir Crispin Crandall

The discovery of scientists of specific fields being abducted becomes a problem for Reddington (James Spader) whose plan for taking down the Director (David Strathairn) and clearing Lizzie's (Megan Boone) name relies on finding one of the missing scientists who has been abducted by an eccentric billionaire who plans to stock his ark with the cryogenically-frozen brains of the best and brightest to build a better utopia following the fall of civilization. Red and Lizzie will have to race the FBI to find the scientist first and retrieve a piece of the man necessary to leverage the Director to reconsider Red's demands.

Successful in beating the FBI to thier target and retrieving what they set out for, Red still isn't able to bend the Director to his will leaving Lizzie a fugitive. However, in the episode's B-story Tom's (Ryan Eggold) reckless behavior gets him beaten, kidnapped, and threatened. It also pays off in leading him straight to Karakurt (Michael Massee) whose capture leads the outlaws one step closer to exonerating Liz. The struggle to save Lizzie makes some progress both in Red getting his hands on the Director's secret stash and Tom's hard work in capturing the assassin who carried out the terrorist act Lizzie was framed for. By themselves they might not be enough to bring the fugitive FBI agent in from the cold, but they are are good first step to resetting the show's status quo.
