Lockwood & Co. - This Will Be Us

I enjoyed the first episode of Lockwood & Co. that introduced us to psychically gifted teenager Lucy Carlyle (Ruby Stokes) in a world where ghost are real and overrunning the world. Much of the first episode deals with Lucy's training and her truly awful mother's (Sandra Huggett) attempts to make money on the daughter she can barely stand before eventually Lucy runs away in an attempt to make her own path. While one of the school's best students, an unfortunate incident which got several of her classmates killed and her best friend comatose, Lucy can't find employment at one of the larger firms due to leaving before her training is complete which leads her to the door of Lockwood & Co.

My favorite moments of the episode come from after Lucy walks through the door of Lockwood & Co. where she completes the tests offered to her by Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman) and George Karim (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) finding a new home before heading out to fight ghosts alongside Lockwood. And its in that ghost hunting where things inevitable go wrong leading to more trouble for the group. I think the show could have given us an episode or two of normal ghost fighting for the crew of Lockwood & Co., and also using that time to flesh out the world of ghosts a bit more, but the immediate disaster of this adventure will put pressure on the agency to make good in a short period of time and put its considerable talents to the test.
