NCIS: Sydney - Gone Fission

The weakest opening episode of any NCIS series, "Gone Fission" sets up the scenario where NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) and NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson (Sean Sagar) are assigned to work with local law enforcement to investigate the death of a United States seaman onboard the nuclear submarine parked in the Australian harbor. Providing local assistance are Australian Federal Police Sergeant JD Dempsey (Todd Lasance), AFP Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper (Tuuli Narkle), AFP Forensic Scientist Blue Gleeson (Mavournee Hazel), and AFP Forensic Pathologist Roy Penrose (William McInnes).

The episode has no connection to any of the other series other than the namedrop of a character or two. No actors from any other NCIS show make the journey to Sydney to help with the launch of NCIS: Sydney. The investigation will discover a second dead sailor (who apparently was tortured for information before his death), the discovery of their original victim dying of radiation poisoning, both governments looking to cover up any bad press, and eventually a bizarre conspiracy meant to fit the various pieces together. Despite ignoring orders in order to solve the crime, the two governments agree to put the group together permanently under Mackey's command. All told, it's a lackluster introduction to a new series that presents little worth returning for.
