Anna Pigeon - Track of the Cat
In what feels like a sort of throwback to the kinds of series USA Network used to make, the opening episode of Anna Pigeon introduces us to park ranger Anna (Tracy Spiridakos) who, following the death of her husband (Jordan Sledz) left her big city life behind for nature. Constantly moving around to different national parks, and about to leave her current posting, Anna looks into the murder of another ranger who others are all too willing to believe was killed by a mountain lion.
Along with introducing the various other rangers, most notably Ryan Northcott, Paulina Alexis, and Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz, we also get Anna's sister (Tricia Helfer), a friend from the FBI (Ronnie Rowe), Anna's bar fling (Cooper Levy), and Kim Coates as the evil corporate douchebag who no doubt will a thorn in Anna's side much of the season. It may not be as strong out of the gate as some classic USA series, but there's enough fertile ground to build on, and at the very least the setting of the show will offer a change to most network and cable shows.
