Kicking off a new five-part arc, "Night Force Part 1" introduces a new secondary team of Joes used for more sensative and covert assignments. Led by Flint, the team includes Lady Jaye, Beach Head, Shooter, and Roadblock. After kicking off the issue showcasing the group training, the comic returns to the Pit where Zartan, having taken the place of Hawk, murders Crystal Ball and frames the Baroness for the crime.

With Duke unable to accept "Hawk's" story, Zartan turns to Flint's team and orders them to hunt down and kill the Baroness driving a huge wedge between Duke, who chooses to help the Baroness, and Night Force. One of the pleasant surprises about this reimagining of G.I. JOE was the idea to put the Baroness on the side of the heroes. Is this the beginning of the end of that run, or, with Duke's help, can she stay alive long enough to prove her innocence?
