Galavant - My Cousin Izzy

Family is a big theme of the penultimate episode of Galavant. Opening with a flashback musical number of a young Galavant (Harry Collett) with his father (Anthony Head) which helps explain Galvant's (Joshua Sasse) views on both heroism and love, "My Cousin Izzy" returns to the present with our heroes locked in King Richard's (Timothy Omundson) dungeon while the King deals with a surprise guest of his older brother Kingsley (Rutger Hauer) who Madalena (Mallory Jansen) plans on making her new husband

In a duel between kings' champions Gareth (Vinnie Jones) is forced to fight for Kingsley leaving Richard no choice but to make Galavant his champion agreeing to release the hero's friends should he win. However, before the duel can begin the young Prince Harry (Kemaal Deen-Ellis) arrives with his army to save Isabella (Karen David), who is both her cousin and betrothed, complicating Galvant's big hero moment all the more.

"My Cousin Izzy" brings back the subplot of Chef (Darren Evans) and the Queen’s handmaiden (Sophie McShera) who attempts to convince the King's cook to poison everyone at the impromptu feast before the spiraling situation ends with them, and all the servants, dead. Unable to go through with the plan, the Chef's disruption of events does allow Galavant a heroic moment although the fate of Richard, the kingdom, and Isabella's family is still very much in doubt heading into the show's finale.
