Zootopia 2
We don't get very many mainstream animated feature films centered around a mystery, especially from Disney. While the 2016 film wasn't as big a hit as Finding Dory, it still cleaned up at the box office and earned enough to deliver a new mystery to be solved by our intrepid bunny and wiley fox team (even if it did take nearly a decade).
Set only one week after the events of Zootopia, the sequel focuses on growing pains between new partners Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) as the discovery of a snake smuggled into Zootopia will lead the pair into a mystery which goes back to the very founding of the city.
Primarily focused on Judy and Nick, the film does return most of the characters from the original film in small roles and cameos. The most notable new character is Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan) who our fox and bunny become attached to after overstepping their authority and become personally invested in discovering what secret Gary needs to expose that the wealthy Lynxley family wants to stay buried.
Still early in the pair's partnership, Zootopia 2 continues to play on the odd couple relationship of Judy and Nick offering plenty of room for both disappointment and growth on both sides. Those who enjoyed the first film should be right at home for this equally fun sequel. In order to clear their names, and cement both their friendship and partnership, the pair will need to solve the mystery of Ebenezer Lynxley's journal and give Gary the justice long denied to the reptiles of Zootopia (as Disney sneaks a bit of social commentary into the family-friendly affair).
