Murder, She Wrote - Murder Takes the Bus
Murder Mystery Monday takes us back to the most famous mystery writer of Cabot Cove. "Murder Takes the Bus" offers a fun setting for an episode of Murder, She Wrote when Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) and Sheriff Amos Tupper's (Tom Bosley) short bus ride is delayed due to bad weather stranding the travelers (Linda Blair, Terence Knox, Rue McClanahan, Larry Linville, David Wayne, Don Stroud, and Albert Salmi) in a small roadside diner where they discover one of the passengers, the paroled convict that joined the bus during their journey, has been killed.
The guest cast is quite fun. Even if not all of the actors are given true moments to shine, the episode sets up some strong red herrings for Jessica and Amos to wade through as more than one person aboard the bus had a reason to wish the victim harm while another, initially lying about his true profession, is carrying a concealed gun. Without any outside resources or the ability to contact the local authorities in the storm, the pair work to find an initial suspect in the bus driver (Michael Constantine) who they later dismiss only to circle back to the true motive and method of the crime.
