The Umbrella Academy - Right Back Where We Started

After ending the First Season of the show with an apocalypse, Season Two opens with another one. Picking up from the cliffhanger ending, "Right Back Where We Started" opens with the members of the Umbrella Academy being dumped in Dallas in the 1960s. Although the each end up in the same spot, they arrive months or years apart making them unaware of where the others have disappeared to. Five (Aidan Gallagher) is the last to arrive, appearing in the middle of a Soviet invasion of Dallas and a nuclear attack on United States soil. With the help of Hazel (Cameron Britton), Five returns 10 days prior in hopes of reuniting his family and preventing the end of the world (again). However, there are a trio of odd gentlemen who apparently have other plans.

With the team dispersed, each of the separate storylines are are explored a bit in a solid opener that sets the season's stakes, teases both a new disaster and new villains, and show the challenges Five is going to have in putting his family back together again. Klaus' (Robert Sheehan) runs into some trouble while returning to Dallas from San Francisco. Vanya (Ellen Page) has become a nanny, Luther (Tom Hopper) appears to be working as hired muscle and an underground street fighter, Diego (David CastaƱeda) is locked up in a psychiatric institution for his attempt to kill Lee Harvey Oswald, and Alison (Emmy Raver-Lampman) is living in a segregated community attempting to fight the racism of the day and fight for social change with her husband (Yusuf Gatewood). Five's attempts to rally Diego and Luther to his side both fail, where does he go now with the clock still ticking and no idea of how to prevent the end of the world?
