Psych - Autopsy Turvy

After Woody (Kurt Fuller) makes a mistake on an autopsy in ruling a murder an accidental death, Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) decide to help the Santa Barbara coroner by finding the real cause of the man's death. While investigating the crime the pair run into their biggest fan, the owner (French Stewart) of a crime book store, who desperately wants to help with the case.

Complicating Woody's mistake is the woman who brought it to Chief Vick's (Kirsten Nelson) attention, a local mortician - and Woody's ex-girlfriend Grace (Glenne Headly). As Woody and Grace conduct a more thorough autopsy, Shawn, Gus, Whip (Stewart), and Henry (Corbin Bernsen) follow the clues which lead them to an underground retro 1930's dance hall and a psychic (Ivana Milicevic) who the victim poured his heart out to hours before his death.

Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and Juliet's (Maggie Lawson) investigation also turns up the local performance artist (Kate Micucci) who the victim had a crush on. When a suicide seems to wrap up the case all too neatly around the obvious fall guy Shawn suspects there's more to the story, but he'll have to do some quick psychic detective work to save his friend from being the killer's latest victim.

It was fun to see an episode surrounding Woody, who we rarely see for more than a scene or two an episode. Not only are Shawn and Gus able to solve the crime and exonerate their friend, but they're able to save his life when his new attention to detail almost gets him killed. I would have liked Stewart to have had a larger role, but it is good to see more of Kristen Nelson (who has been largely absent since the show returned from mid-season hiatus).
