Death and Other Details - Memorable / Vanishing

Where "Memorable" works on delving into Imogene's (Violett Beane) broken memories about the death of her mother, "Vanishing" returns to the ship to examine the events before and after the death of Llewellyn Mathers (Jere Burns) providing motivations, secrets, and revelations for multiple characters and, before all is said and done, the elimination of two more passengers as the mysterious Victor Sams.

While I like the idea of "Memorable," putting the adult Imogene into the world of her childhood, the effect is a bit hit-and-miss. The episode provides a revelation about why her mother was killed and her relationship to another passenger on the ship whose own motivations are then explored more deeply in "Vanishing." Other big moments from the episodes include Anna (Lauren Patten) being shocked to learn the truth of her paternity, Imogene discovering a secret about Lawrence Collier (David Marshall Grant), and yet another murder. "Vanishing" ends on a cliffhanger with new guests arriving likely providing a short distraction before Imogene and Rufus (Mandy Patinkin) can fit all the pieces of this puzzle together and finally unmask Victor Sams.
