Person of Interest - Honor Among Thieves

When the latest number turns out to be the leader of a heist crew Shaw (Sarah Shahi) suspects the man (Adrian Bellani) may be a potential perpetrator rather than victim, especially after the latest heist turns out to be a deadly biological weapon. Enjoying her latest assignment much more than her regular day job, Shaw joins the crew just in time to protect the number from the other members of the crew who attempt to kill them both for the deadly prize.

I'm always a fan of Shaw episodes, and "Honor Among Thieves" allows the character to enjoy herself more than she's been able to since being cooped-up behind a beauty counter under her new cover-ID. The episode also delivers more of my favorite combination of "Shoot" as Root (Amy Acker) gleeful comments on Shaw's obvious attraction to the number which even momentarily tempts her to leave the team. Thankfully that's not happening soon, and I'm pleased with the unstated fact that Shaw chose the team and Root over an exciting new love tryst, but I am sad we don't get to see what kind of mischief the ladies might get into as they head off together just as the episode comes to an end.

Used more in a support role, Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) still manage to steal a scene including Fusco's reaction to seeing just what his friends have gotten him into involving plagues and government assassins. Shaw also crosses paths with two of her former co-workers (Nick E Tarabay, Theodora Woolley), one of whom attempts to help his old friend escape detection (although not quickly enough for Samaritan who may have taken the first step in breaking the team's cover identities likely heating things up as we move closer to the show's winter break). Although successful in their mission, Finch's (Michael Emerson) final words to Ms. Groves also suggest he's having second thoughts about the team's covert war which leads the group to destroy $11 million in school supplies and still call it a win. We'll have to wait and see just how those doubts might fester and grow as the season continues.
