The Flash - Power Outage

When a new metahuman shows up in town with the ability to drain power from everything from the city's electrical grid to a living person the Flash (Grant Gustin) is left temporarily without his powers. As Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) work to find a way to restore Barry's speed Blackout (Michael Reventar) shows up at the ruins of the accelerator looking for Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) who he blames for the accident.

"Power Outage" leaves Barry temporarily vulnerable without his speed. Not only does the episode show us how far the Flash is willing to go to regain his powers but the dedication of those around him. During the struggle to survive Barry gets his first glimpse at the darker side of Wells continuing to foreshadow darker days to come. While dealing with his speed loss Barry must also deal with the fact he is powerless to help a hostage situation at the police station involving both Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) when the Clock King (Robert Knepper) escapes custody.

With the Flash out of costume for most of the episode the quick heroics are a bit toned down this week forcing the show to rely solely on character and drama for most of the episode. Although Barry and Wells put their disagreement, and the fact that Wells decided to sacrifice Girder (Greg Finley) to Blackout to buy the team he time necessary to restore Barry's speed, aside to end the episode it will worth keeping an eye on the pair to see if Barry's opinion of the man has changed. "Power Outage" continues a trend in recent weeks pushing Barry and Caitlin closer together, perhaps teasing a romantic relationship in their future?
