The Old Man - VI

In the penultimate episode of the First Season of The Old Man Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges) runs in to trouble while attempting his big move to cash-in on a debt that leads to killing several guards at a fancy shindig, and a disgraced Harold Harper (John Lithgow) finds himself at an impasse after Emily (Alia Shawkat) is taken by agents of Harold and Dan's mentor (Joel Grey). As circumstances reach a head, have events finally unfolded in a way to allow Dan and Harold to work together? And has their target become not the old enemy bearing grudges for decades but the master spy who trained them both?

With so much happening in the present, the Chase's hallucinations don't work as well here as when they appeared to be forewarning him of what he was about to do. Zoe's (Amy Brenneman) role is also superficial given how much time was spent to put her in this situation she's little more than arm candy and part of Chase's not-all-that-effective cover. As for our hero on the run and his old friend who let him disappear, they now appear to have a common interest... although there's plenty of secrets still waiting to see the light of day.
