Dream's (Tom Sturridge) search for his missing sand takes him to London and the acquaintance of Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman). We've seen various versions of Constantine in both television and film, but this one of the best. Coleman is terrific here and I'd love to see this version of Constantine spun off into her own adventures. Smart enough to see what Dream is and guess what happened to him with the slightest information, Johanna leads him to his missing item although it means walking back into her past and discovering what has become of a former loved one.
Although the thread of the story stays the same, this is the episode where we see the most change from the original comic, and each of those changes turn out to be positives not only for the character of Constantine but also for the larger story. The episode also introduces Patton Oswalt as the voice of Dream's newest raven who finally earns a spot by his master's side after much insistence only to realize how dangerous a job he's signed-up for. We also say farewell to Ethel Cripps (Niamh Walsh) who offers what protection she has to her son John (David Thewlis) at the cost of her own life but also leading to John's escape from the facility and entry back into the world where we can expect he'll get into all kinds of mischief.
