Franklin & Bash - Good Cop/Bad Cop

While attempting help a client (Daniel Roebuck) whose expensive beach property was illegally seized and built upon by his neighbor (Bruce Nozick) during his lengthy abscence following The Grateful Dead, Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) accidentally piss off a corrupt cop (Vincent Ventresca) who begins to make the pair's lives a living hell including throwing both of them in jail overnight over trumped-up charges. After Anita (Toni Trucks) discovers the cop spends his free time working for the land developer who screwed over their client, Peter enlists the help of his his ex Wendy (Kat Foster) which also reawakens some old passions.

In the episode's B-story Damien (Reed Diamond) goes to war with Infeld (Malcolm McDowell) after learning of his uncle's sex scandal legal defense as a means to protect his nephew from prosecution. This leads to a fight between the lawyers to land a big client (Keone Young), but Staton's "scorched earth" strategy doesn't go exactly as planned.

The return of Wendy, one of Peter's more intriguing ex-girlfriends, is a welcome surprise even if the episode consistently gets her name wrong (she's referred to as Officer Wendy McQuaid here, not Wendy Cowell as she was during her recurring role in Season 2). The end of the episode teases the fact that we may be seeing more of both cops over the course of the season as Peter and Jared are successful in court but Peter purposefully limits Wendy's testimony to protect her from reprisals on the force leaving the corrupt cop still in place as the episode comes to an end.
