iZombie - Dirt Nap Time / Eat a Knievel

While Liv (Rose McIver) helps Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) investigate the murders of a preschool teacher and a reality-TV adrenaline junkie (Robert Ri'chard) "Dirt Nap Time" and "Eat a Knievel" bring a return to form for Blaine (David Anders). Depressed over his recent break-up with Peyton (Aly Michalka), Blaine's life gets no easier with his father (Robert Knepper) and Don E (Bryce Hodgson) pushing in on his business and attempting to murder him. Returned to zombie form with a righteous fury, revenge on his dad, and big plans for zombie-kind, it appears the old Blaine is back. While I'm not surprised with the turn, I'd have liked to see the reformed Blaine stick around for a bit longer.

Of the two episodes I enjoyed Liv more of the note-passing, constantly-praising, puppet-wearing, philandering teacher than the selfish stuntman (though the episode does offer a memorable moment of Liv attempting to staple a willing suspect's tongue to a table). The team finds no answers as to who actually stole the cure as both Blaine and Don E appear to be innocent of the theft. While Major's (Robert Buckley) cure seems to have on ill-effects, other than taking away his most useful skill for his new employer, and Justin (Tongayi Chirisa) has begun dating Liv, things aren't going so well for the rest of Team Z. The (apparent) death of their leader ushers in Veronica Mars alumni Jason Dohring as the head of the zombie army. Whether or not the militant anti-zombie group is responsible, their new footage of Justin isn't likely to hurt their cause.
