X-Men '97 - Fire Made Flesh

Picking up from the tease at the end of the previous episode with the sudden appearance of another Jean Grey (), "Fire Made Flesh" Cyclops' (Ray Chase) wife and the mother of his child to be a clone created by Mister Sinister (Chris Britton). With the baby now born, the clone is activated by Sinister becoming Dominatrix Jean Grey, calling herself the Goblin Queen, and abducts the baby leading to a rescue operation, triggering events of Nathan Summers' fate, and leaving Cyclops without a wife or son.

The compact clone saga is pretty damn goofy, but it does allow Wolverine (Cal Dodd) to have some purpose in helping the original Jean and both set up the clone to begin a new life as Madelyne Pryor and set up the origin for Cable. And, despite the awkwardness of it all, there is certainly fun to be had. In an episode mostly about loss (even for the returning Jean), the tease at the end (following the formula of the previous episodes) provides a bit of hope for Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith) who is approached by a former X-Man about reconnecting with her powers.
