The Big Bang Theory - The Relationship Diremption

Sheldon (Jim Parsons)'s shocking discovery that he may be wasting his life in scientific pursuit of a theory he will likely never be able to prove leads the scientist to debate giving up String Theory in favor of other pursuits. Choosing to accept Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) advice about abandoning an unhealthy relationship, Sheldon begins searching for a new scientific muse, but he's ill-prepared for the one which finds him after a night of heavy drinking with Penny, Amy (Mayim Bialik), and Leonard (Johnny Galecki).

The episode's B-story involves an embarrassing double-date for Howard (Simon Helberg) who discovers he knows Raj's (Kunal Nayyar) new girlfriend Emily (Laura Spencer). Although she doesn't quite remember him at the beginning of the meal, it doesn't take long for the story of "Clogzilla" to come out leaving a shamed Howard constantly apologizing for his previous behavior. The creation of the nickname (which I'm sure we'll hear again) is fun, but the episode's real takeaway is how strong a match Raj and Emily seem to be, leading to the possibility that the show's constant third wheel may have finally found the right girl.

Both storylines converge in Howard and Sheldon sharing their shame the next morning in the college cafeteria. nd of course it wouldn't be complete without an appearance by Kripke (John Ross Bowie) to rub both his rivals noses in the charming new nickname or Sheldon's drunk dialing Stephen Hawking to ramble on about the hidden glories of Geology (what a sober Sheldon referred to earlier as the "Kardashians of science.")
