The opening episode of the new Peacock series introduces us to a traumatized young woman named Carrie (Stefanie Scott) who abandons her religious commune in the woods and her responsibilities of protecting a door deep in the woods from which monsters can enter our world. The cult seems to have all the time in the world to search for Carrie but not offer any help in guarding the door from the horrors on the other side. When a young girl (Lily Jane) is taken by one of the monsters, Carrie will team up with the girl's older brother (Misha Osherovich) and a new friend (Sofia Bryant) to find her. The search will continue past the show's first episode, which may offer plenty of cliched young adult trapping thrown together on a shoestring budget but little reason to stick around and learn more about what's really happening in the woods.
