The Big Bang Theory - The Table Polarization

Playing on a well-established theme of Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) disapproval of all change, Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) decision to defy his roommate and buy a dining room table leads to consequences for everyone involved including Amy (Mayim Bialik) who, taking a page from Penny (Kaley Cuoco) subtly steering Leonard to do what she wants, seizes the opportunity to try and get closer to her boyfriend.

In the episode's B-story Howard (Simon Helberg) is psyched about NASA offering to take him back into space until Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Bernadette's father (Casey Sander), and astronaut Mike Massimino perform an intervention to remind him how much he actually hated the first experience. Eventually Howard admits to himself they have a point (although he is unwilling to do so in front of any member of the group).

Although there's not much to the main storyline it does provide some humorous moments of the ladies getting a chance to manipulate their boyfriends (at least until the point where Amy strays too far). The point Leonard makes about the couch (a change Sheldon learned to appreciate) is a good one but its lost in the big baby getting his own way in the end. Howard's storyline may be a little more character-driven but lacks the any big laugh not made at his expense (other than the short sequence of sharing his new magic wand remote with Raj).
