Dead Boy Detectives - The Case of the Lighthouse Leapers

For their latest case, the detectives investigate a number of people who willingly are jumping to their deaths into the sea from the local lighthouse. Playing on the ideas of a siren's call, albeit one with a more unusual creature revealed a the end, offers an unusual setup that is quite effective, especially after Crystal (Kassius Nelson)  becomes attracted to the call. The town's reluctance to acknowledge the supernatural, including the local police, as illustrated in no one believing the eye witness of multiple people seeing a suicide helps explain how so much wacky stuff can go down without anyone giving it any mind.

Other notable pieces of the episode are Niko (Yuyu Kitamura) proving herself to be a natural detective and her continued bonding with Edwin (George Rexstrew), who has another confrontation with the Cat King (Lukas Gage), Crystal starting a romance with a ghost, and the unexpected (but not unwelcome) very quick end to the Night Nurse (Ruth Connell) plot thread which I had feared could quite quickly take over too much of the series. I didn't see Charles (Jayden Revri) killing her as the most likely outcome, but events do build directly from her effect of her terrorizing them in her attempt to force the ghosts to move on, and Charles fraught emotional state after the last episode, even if his actions do surprise his companions.
